My name is Josh Shulkind. I grew up down the road in Woodinville and went to the University of Washington for my undergraduate studies. While I was at Princeton Seminary earning my master’s degree, I met my wife. We got married a year later and now have three beautiful kids.
After serving as a youth pastor for three years, I felt called to start a church in the lowest income area of Tacoma. My family and I started the church and grew it to where I could lead the church full time. We served that church for almost six years and had a wonderful experience there. We then wanted to move closer to my parents and got the chance when God let us join the Church on the Ridge staff in 2015.
I did not grow up going to church. My mom started following Christ when I was in high school. She brought me to church where I accepted Jesus into my life. I was still figuring out my faith in college. Only after a friend brought me to a college ministry did I really commit my heart to Jesus. I got involved in a small group there and quickly grew in my faith through that group.
That's why I'm so excited to be the Groups and Discipleship Pastor here at Church on the Ridge. I personally have experienced the power of groups and know the life transformation they can affect in people's hearts.
When I'm not at church, I love to be with my family and friends. I also enjoy lifting weights and getting outdoors.
