Imagine your doorbell ringing. You look through the peephole and see a stranger standing there holding a satchel, a clipboard, and a handful of fliers. You know that this person wants to sell you a product, a religion, a political point of view, or something else that is not of interest to you. Do you open the door and face that awkward moment of turning them away, or do you ignore the doorbell and hope they will leave?

Some people feel that same dread when they think about church.

They think of the church as an organization that asks them to give money and time and don’t know what they get in return. They don’t understand that the church isn’t selling a product or religion or anything else. The Church is about building a relationship with Jesus and learning to live a life of purpose, sharing the love of Jesus with our friends, family, and community.

Over the next few days, think about the people in your life who are hesitant to accept Jesus for who He is, our Lord and Savior. Is there an authentic way you can connect with them in a way that they will understand why living a life with Jesus is so critical? It may be difficult and tricky, but when you look in the mirror, do you want to see a pale reflection or one that shines the love of Jesus brightly to the world around you?
