Today, as we approach the one-year anniversary of Commitment Sunday, we want to fill you in on both the notable achievements since our last update as well as the challenges we are facing. While we are not exactly where we hoped to be by this date when we started, we hope that sharing this info will inspire you to keep this project as a subject of specific and regular prayer. See You at the Family Meeting

Before we dive into some of the nitty gritty, we didn’t want to miss the chance to invite you to the table—both figuratively and literally. If you consider Church on the Ridge your home, we want to invite you to share a meal with your church family this Sunday, May 20 from 12:45-2:45pm as we fill you in on the latest with:

  • Updates to our staff and leadership structure
  • The latest Cornerstone for Generations update
  • Details on our groundbreaking ceremony
  • Ratify new Advisory Council members
  • Updates from our ministry leaders
  • Charlie’s vision for the church in 2019
NOTE Voting will be reserved for covenant members. If you love the people of Church on the Ridge and believe in our vision and mission, then membership might be the next right step of faith for you. RSVP for our Membership Class, Sunday, August 12.

Notable Achievements

Topographical Study Completed

We just had the property surveyed for construction purposes of topography and where the church foundation will sit and to confirm all property lines, corners and utilities connections. And thankfully, we found out that our property is, in fact, above sea level—by 811 feet to be exact!

Did You Know?

Have you every looked out onto the area formerly known as the “grass field” and wonder how we are going to fit a large enough building on that green postage stamp? You’re not alone! The good news is that the property is actually significantly larger than the field. The property line technically goes from the driveway on the east side of the Trailside Building to the stand of trees beyond the field. Pics or it didn’t happen? We’ve got you covered.  View the image gallery below and get a better scope of the property and building.

Northwest Building Marker

The fluorescent tape marks the northwest corner of the new building.

Southern Property Marker

Our property easement extends into the trail. We will not be allowed to build here, but it is technically our property. Hey, they don’t call the current facility the “Trailside Building” for no reason!

Southeast Property and Building Markers

The marker in the foreground notes the location of the southeast corner of the property, while the markers beyond mark the corner of the building.

Southwest Building Marker

The southwest corner of the building will be in the middle of the current play area.

Eastern Building Marker

The markers in the trees denote the eastern edge of the building.

More Achievements

Environmental Study

The environmental studies department put out a public notice inviting input from the community.

Some Parking Relief

The property owner directly to the east has agreed to work with us on the driveway easement that we will share. This will alleviate some of the pressure on parking with the new facility.

Donations to Date

Thank you for your faithfulness in giving. As of today, May 16, 2018, we have received $1,090,127 of our running target to date of $1,128,376. That means are at 97% toward our running target. If you have not yet given to Cornerstone for Generations, would you prayerfully consider how God would enable you to give? If you have fallen behind in your giving, don’t give up. Pray and contemplate how you can catch up.

Challenges

Contractor Pressure

The contractor bids that will constitute our Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) are due this week. There is significant pressure on the contractors to come in under budget. Please pray that God enables favorable bids from contractors who will support the vision of this project.

Schedule Concerns

We’ve had a delay with the architect and the civil drawings. This hang-up has created some challenges that push out our schedule, and, potentially, increase some of the cost of the project. As the saying goes, time is money, and in this case, the meaning is literal. Delays can mean an increase in the cost of the supplies. We are trying to catch up to schedule. Please pray that the hang-ups can be resolved and that the project can move closer to schedule.
